Adjustable standing desks with a range that covers both your sitting and standing numbers.
With your feet flat and forearms resting on the desk, your elbows should sit at roughly a 90° angle and your shoulders should stay relaxed — not hunched or shrugged. The calculator gives you that number based on your height; treat it as a starting point and adjust in small increments until it feels neutral.
Your standing desk height should match your standing elbow height — the point where your forearms are parallel to the floor when your upper arms hang naturally at your sides. For most people that's several inches higher than their seated desk height, which is why an adjustable desk is worth it.
The top of your screen should sit at or just below eye level, about an arm's length away. If your monitor is too low, a stand or a monitor arm fixes it instantly and is the single cheapest ergonomic upgrade most people are missing.
A common guideline is to alternate roughly every 30–60 minutes rather than standing all day. Movement matters more than any single posture — the best position is your next one.
